MY GREEN BEANS RECIPE:
4 slices of bacon, chopped into bite-sized pieces
2 cans green beans, drained (or one large can….we like Italian style)
1.5 – 2 cups chicken stock
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp brown sugar
salt and pepper to taste
Cook bacon in same pot you plan to cook green beans. After the bacon is done, do not drain the grease! Pour in green beans, chicken stock and seasonings. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to simmer for about 30 minutes (uncovered) until most of the liquid evaporates.

DISHPAN COOKIES (I did half this recipe – it made a little over 3 dozen)
4 cups AP flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups cooking oil (I used veg. oil)
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1.5 cups quick cooking oats
4 cups corn flakes
In a very large bowl or pan, combine sugars, oil, eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Blend and sift flour, baking soda and salt. Add to sugar mixture, mixing thoroughly. Blend in oats and corn flakes. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes in 325 degree oven.
April’s notes: Don’t overbake these!! She does 3 minutes on bottom rack and 3 on top. If additional time is needed, just monitor closely. You don’t want hard dishpan cookies.
My note: My oven wasn’t doing the job at 325. I had to increase mine to 350.
