~ Cocktail History & Information ~
The Bushwacker cocktail is a drink built with dark rum (aged), coffee liqueur, cremé de cacao, milk, and cream of coconut!

Bushwacker Cocktail Info:
This sweet and creamy concoction is a mix of Mudslides and Pina Coladas. It was created in a Caribbean resort, just like its sibling. Angie Conigliaro, a bartender at the Ship’s Store & Sapphire Pub in St. Thomas in the USVI, is credited with its creation. It is believed to have been named after a patron’s dog.

Soon after, the Sandshaker Bar owner in Pensacola, Florida, visited the St. Thomas resort bar. She fell in love with it and brought it back to her bar, where it gained more fame. An annual celebration of the drink is held every year in Pensacola.

The original Bushwacker cocktail recipe included Baileys Irish cream, coconut cream, rum, and creme de cacao. The formula has seen many changes over the years, with some containing a lot of alcohol and others barely any alcohol. There are many combinations of rum and coffee liqueurs, Baileys and amaretto, triple sec, and creme de cacao drinks. Some recipes double the amount of creamy coconut! Use milk or even ice cream.

This formula is boozier than others and less sweetened. There are many ways to make it. No one will judge you if you add a festive dollop of whipped cream and a maraschino cherry to the top.
