It’s important that you use the best ingredients and the right glassware to make a tasty margarita. Don Julio tequila is a great choice as it is a 100% blue agave blanco tequila. The other two ingredients are fresh lime juice and agave syrup. Choose 100% agave nectar to make the syrup to get the best flavors. A great tip is to mix one part agave nectar and one part water to make agave syrup for the margarita. This syrup can be substituted for simple syrup in other cocktails. To make the margarita, pour three quarters of an ounce of agave syrup in a cocktail shaker. It’s a good idea to start with the sweet ingredient. The syrup tends to stick to the jigger and shaker but the lime juice and tequila that comes later helps to rinse it out. Next, add one ounce of lime juice and one and half ounce of tequila. This summer cocktail is best served over ice so give the cocktail a gentle shake and the rest of dilution will take place in the glass. Fill the glasses with ice, strain and pour your margaritas over the ice.
When serving summer cocktails like margaritas, it’s a good idea to cover only half the rim with salt. Your guests can enjoy both flavors and the essence of the margarita comes through.
