There are as many speculations about the origins of the Sex on the Beach cocktail as there is variations on it’s recipe. The IBA (International Bartender’s Association) calls for vodka, peach schnapps, cranberry and orange juice – this version can be found here – Sex on the Beach.
WHERE’S THE MIDORI?
Another popular variation of the recipe calls for replacing the Cassis/Chambord (that is found in the recipe below) with Midori Melon liqueur.
CASSIS / CHAMBORD IS THE BEST
The below recipe is our preferred version of the 80s contemporary classic, Sex on the Beach.
INGREDIENTS
– 45mL Vodka
– 15mL Peach Schnapps
– 15mL Cassis (or Chambord)
– 45mL Pineapple Juice (or Orange Juice, if preferred)
– 45mL Cranberry Juice
METHOD
1. Add all the ingredients to your cocktail shaker
2. Shake and strain over fresh ice into a hi-ball or stemmed cocktail glass
3. Garnish with a slice of orange and maraschino cherry
